"Rockin' at Tthe YPC", almost a full house, great atmosphere, great night.
A top performance from Ricky & The Topspots despite a sound problem that was cause by a guitar lead left plugged into it's amp but not the guitar; superb performance from Ian Gregson (ex Ian & The Rebels) and West End Star Marianne Price, and the rockin' Bumblies morphed into The Cryin' Shames and ended the evening with a full cast performance of Johnny B Good all presented expertly by Dune FM's Phil Roberts. How Good is that? Great night.

Hi All, two weeks to the big show 'Rockin' at The YPC' Ormskirk Civic Hall, Friday 28th October, featuring; Ricky Gleason & The Topspots; Shooter & friends (West End star Marianne Price and Ian Gregson of Ian & The Rebels) and The Bumblies who are to morph into 'The Cryin' Shames'. Ormskirk YPC (Young Peoples Club) situated in Burscough Street Ormskirk, was a major venue in the Mersey Beat days, featuring all the top Liverpool bands including favourites Ricky & The Topspots. Shooter guitarist Keith Hubbard was a member of Ormskirk band The Rebels who, as well as rehearsing, regularly performed at the club. Liverpool impressario Dave Forshaw was the supplier of what was a tremendous line up of bands of the day. The YPC shared the fate of the original Cavern Club and is now a car park. Hi All, Shooter have a gig at St Judes Social Club, Poolstock Lane, Wigan this coming Saturday. The following Saturday the band are at Skelmersdale Warders Club, Skelmersdale and on Monday 26Th September travel to Hemsby nr. Great Yarmouth for a 60s week gig.
At the end of October JKH Music Productions in a joint promotion with Liverpoolbeat.com are putting on a Mersey Beat Special evening at Ormskirk Civic Hall title "Rockin' at the YPC" a re-union aimed at the teenagers of the mid 60s who were members of Ormskirk Young Peoples Club. (YPC) The YPC was host to many a Mersey Beat top liner in it's day. the line up for the gig is YPC regular favourites Ricky Gleason & The Topspots (Shooter's guitarist Keith will be guesting with his old mates) The Bumblies who later became The Crying Shames (Please Stay) and Shooter who hope to bring a few special guests to the programme. more later. "Big in Wigan" Shooter had a rockin' good night at Garswood and Simms Labour Club on Saturday. Although the club was only two thirds full due members taking a trip to support Wigan Warriors on their winning appearance at Wembley for the Rugby League Cup Final; well done to them, a good night was had by all.

Thr Marquee Rocks

Hi All, not so many gigs as usual in June but what gigs they were. Astle Park Caravan & Camping Club at Chelford in Cheshire was the first gig. Set up as a 60s weekend, the happy campers really entered in to the spirit of the event. The Marquee was buzzing and although, as at Driffield, Shooter was booked to perform two three quarter hour sets starting at 8:30pm, except for an half hour break, the band didn't get off stage until glass slipper/curfew time 11pm. The party goers sang along with such gusto that they must have heard the final encore number Hi Ho Silver Lining in Knutsford, 12 miles away. In fact if the nearby Joderal Bank transmitter was functioning, they probably heard it in outer space. WOW what a night; Rock 'n' Roll!!!
Later in the month Shooter travelled to Haydock Park Golf Club, although markedly quieter than Astle Park it is a nice venue with nice people and again, the band had a great night.
All of the bands gigs in July are in Manchester, we'll tell you about them in the next blog.

Hi All, Shooter enjoyed a great month of May, we must congratulate Shooter lead guitar and vocalist Keith Hubbard on the birth of his grand daughter Amelia, Keith is now a doting grandpa. Bass player Mike celebrated his daughter Jess's 21st birthday with a party for friends and family at the family home and by buying her a new electro acoustic guitar.
The band have had brilliant gigs first of which was at Newton Hall Caravan Park on the outskirts of Blackpool. the concert room was busy and the audience very enthusiastic, a really good time was had by all.
Next up was the yearly visit to Rylands Sports and Social Club in Warrington, never a let down this club, good atmosphere, love their Rock 'n' Roll.
Following Rylands was a wonderful gig at the 49Th National Rally for the wagoners section of The Camping and Caravan Club of Great Britain. Held at the Driffield Showground in the East Riding of Yorkshire, it was all good hospitality with a warm Yorkshire welcome. Organiser Dennis Rowley did the band proud keeping them in good supply of refreshment while hosting the evening and what an evening it was. The dance floor was heaving and although booked to perform two three quarter hour sets, Shooter ended up playing for over two and a half hours. they couldn't get off the stage, Quote from Dennis Rowley;...Hia Keith, Thanks for a brilliant night everybody enjoyed it, hope to see you again before to long, again thanks for a great night. DennisR... Knockout!
Bank holiday Monday saw Shooter return for this years second trip to Seacroft Holiday Centre in Hemsby by Great Yarmouth; although a long trip to the far reaches of Norfolk, this is one of the bands favourite gigs and the welcome always makes the journey worth while. With again a full dance floor and enthusiastic reception Shooter look forward to their next visit to Seacroft in September.
Shooter have a gig at another holiday site this week Astle Park Caravan Club. Situated in the depths of Cheshire close to the Jodrell Bank Observatory, the gig is in a marquee and the band are are hoping for good weather and another great night.

Great Gigs; Nice People.

Hi All, Shooter have been around the UK recently with a great gig at Ringway Golf Club Altrincham, a small venue but what a great crowd, they wouldn't let the band leave the stage.
This was followed by a gig at South Downs Holiday Park on Selsey Bill. Greeted by entertainments manager Malcon Tyrer, the band were treated like kings and received a fantastic welcome from the audience. Great night, please have us back soon.
This week Shooter are at Newhall Country Club in Blackpool, another nice venue, there will be report in our next blog.

Hi All, trust the the economic squeeze has not dampened your start to 2011. On the gigs front, it has been quiet, Shooter made an appearance at Swinney's Club in Wigan last Saturday and a great night it was too. Like the weather, things are starting to warm up now and the coming months see the band back in Seacroft Holiday Centre Hemsby, South Downs Holiday Village Chichester, The Showground Driffield, Midpoint Bradford as well as local gigs in Manchester, Blackpool, Warrington and Haydock. This is a fab venue, very atmospheric, good food and drink and there is no admission fee. The first of three half hour sessions starts at 1pm and is followed by two further sets at 2pm and 3pm. We're on the road again

Hi All, Shooter are on the road again and have had a fantabulas start to 2011. After a brilliant New Years Eve date at The Hilton Hotel in Bradford the January gigs have included The Beech Hill Hotel in Windermere, Thatto Heath Labour Club and the first of a season of Sunday afternoon gigs at PanAm Restaurant & Bars situated in Liverpools Albert Dock Complex.

The first set of 1/2 hour starts at 1pm and there are following sets at 2pm and 3pm.

Each week will feature a known, even legendary Mersey Beat band; next week it's the turn of The Bumblies, and the folowing week its; The Undertakers. Shooter are due to re-appear on Sunday March 6th. Great venue why not get down to the dock and see for yourself.

Hi, Shooter have been on the road throughout November visiting such venues Lyons Holiday Park in Rhyl and The GMB Social Club in Manchester.
Saturday last saw the band make their first appearance at West Derby Conservative Club in Liverpool; what a great night. Host Paul Knight gave the band a fantastic welcome as did the enthusiastic audience who danced and sang along to the great hits included in Shooter's repertoire. Great club, thanks Paul for the booking, the band look forward to returning in the not to distant future.
Especially well received was drummer Tommy Limb; Tommy; on lone from Ricky Gleason & The Topspots, was standing in for Shooter's resident sticks man Jeff Walker who was laid low with a stomach bug; we wish Jeff a speedy recovery and would like to thank Tommy for standing in at such short notice.
This Saturday (27th) the band are at Pendleton British Legion, Salford, again in Manchester.
Shooter's December diary see's them at the Beech Hill Hotel Windermere every Friday till Christmas, at The Railwaymen's Club, Aintree, Liverpool on the 20th and on New Years Eve at the Hilton Hotel in Bradford.
On Saturday's 4th, 11th and on Christmas Eve, Shooter's Mike and Keith will be performing acoustically at Lings on Kings Chinese Restaurant in Southport. Nice venue this, great food and with a warm welcome from Ling who, while entertaining the guests sings some great jazz and pop standards, promises an enjoyable evening for all.

Busy Weeks

Friday night saw Shooter and The Krystolettes appear as part of 'The Mathew Street Band Show' at the Pan Am Restaurant; which is the old Richard and Judy morning show set situated in the Albert Dock in Liverpool. In what was probably the best night of Merseybeat in many years, the stars turned out to celebrate the inaugural 'Mathew Street Band Show'.
The stars of the show; Geoff Nugent of Merseybeat legends 'The Undertakers', Lee Curtis & the Allstars, Shooter, The Bumblies and The Krystollettes gave memorable performances to show that Merseybeat and the sounds of the 60s has lost none of it's magic appeal.
As Shooter's drummer Jeff Walker was on holiday in Spain a big thank you must go to drummer Niall Williams for the brilliant stand in job that he did; well done Niall.
Geoff Nugent and Lee Curtis were made Honorary members of The Mathew Street Band; also receiving Honorary membership were Billy Kinsley of The Merseybeats; little miss Merseybeat - Beryl Marsden and Alan Schroeder of The Black Nights. Author and BBC Radio Merseyside DJ Spencer Leigh autographed copy's of his new book "Tomorrow Never Knows".
Get Back movie producer Gary Popper bought his film crew to the event and remarked that he canned some great footage which will be used in the forthcoming documentary. He reckons the the documentary series should reach an audience of 60,000,000 worldwide. Shooters Keith Hubbard arranged the programme and managed the stage setting.

Sunday and Shooter had a gig at a new club to them; Elton Liberal Club in Bury. What a great night, a very enthusiastic audience loved every minute of their trip back to the music of the 1950s and 60s. A big thanks to everybody at the club.

10k run - Mathew Street Band

Hi All, after a number of gigs up and down the UK the 17th October saw Shooter bass player Mike and lead guitarist Keith compete in the Cancer Research 10k run at Victoria Park Southport. Keith was celebrating one year since his surgery to combat Prostate cancer and Mike was giving him his support. Also supporting them at the run was ex Shooter drummer Bob Dickenson and his partner Rose who had travelled all the way from Wrendury in Cheshire. Keith managed to raise a princely £450 in sponsorship for the event and would like to thank all those who made their generous donations for this very important cause.

This week see's Shooter at PanAm Restaurant in Liverpool's Albert Dock for the 'Mathew Street Band Show'. The show features; Shooter; The Krystolette's; The Bumblies; Geoff Nugent of The Undertakers and vocalist Lee Curtis. Lee made more appearances at the Hamberg Star Club than the Beatles and remains a huge draw in Germany.

Hi All, after the protest now the band. Mathew Street Banned was put together, and a single released, in protest to the omitting of a designated Mersey Beat stage at Liverpool's 2010 annual Mathew Street Festival. The protest had great support but was to no avail. With this in mind Liverpool Beat.Com have decide to form a dedicated band called; 'The Mathew Street Band' with a view to staging full live shows under the guise of 'The Mathew Street Band Show'. The shows will be an en devour to keep alive the soul of Mersey Beat in its home setting of Merseyside and beyond. The first show is planned for Friday 29th October at the PanAm Restaurant and Bar in the Albert Dock complex in Liverpool. As a founder member of the protest, Shooter's lead guitarist Keith Hubbard has been granted, along with the other eleven founder members, Honorary Membership of the band. Associate honorary membership will be granted to anyone connected with the Mersey Beat scene during the 60's such as; managers, promoters, roadies and media presenters. Standard membership is open to all, and musicians who have performed at anytime in Mathew Street, can apply for membership of 'The Mathew Street Jam Band'. Hello All; what a great night at Windle Labour Club in St Helens. Shooter were guests on Saturday last at; what is a very rare occurrence, a club devoted to completely live entertainment. Starting the night were the resident three-some; Dave on keyboards ably assisted by a great powerhouse drummer and superb vocalist who also acted as compeer. They performed covers of big standard hits by the likes of The Walker Brothers, Roy Orbison, The Killers etc; fantastic. Shooter had to follow them and received a great reception. Windle Labour Club is to be congratulated in times when we are being brainwashed with X factor type karaoke and hi tech this and that, they are maintaining a "Keep It Live" programme. The packed house was a sign that, at least in some places, people are a bit more discerning with their choice of entertainment; brilliant.

Hi All, After a number of private and corporate gigs Shooter hit the club circuit again last Saturday. Appearing at the GMT Whitehouse Club in Manchester the band had a great night. Liverpool Beat editor and Bumblies guitarist Dave (Fergy) Ferguson; who was accompanied by his wife Lyn, payed a visit to see Shooter. Dave bought along his video recorder and caught some great takes from the bands set. With a little luck and good management the takes should be available to view soon.

Shooter had a fabtabulous gig at The Welsh Transport Regiments Maendy Barracks in Cardiff Saturday last. The completely themed the event had large phsycodelic freezes and Union Jack Flags around the walls, UV lighting and a Vespa scooter; the 60s dressed guests arrived in a fleet mini's, everything was set for a swinging evening. The guests certainly enjoyed Shooter and the band had a great night.
Lead guitarist Keith and bass player Mike are taking part in a Cancer Research 10K Run to be held in Southport at Victoria Park on 17th October 2010.
A note from Keith:
I have been fighting prostate cancer since 2004.
During my treatment I have met some wonderful people, consultants, oncologist, special nurses hospital ward staff and my GP and staff at my local surgery and pharmacy who do a fantastic job in helping people like me through the trials of coping with the treatments that are attached to cancer.
These treatments would not be available and I would probably not be here without the ground breaking research carried out by the Cancer Research Charities.

There is to be a television documentary about the untold story of the emergence of the Mersey Sound and the legacy seen in Liverpool bands of today such as; the Zutons and The Coral. The story will be about the mostly unknown rock 'n' roll pioneers, entrepreneurs and fans that played a big part in the foundation of what is now known as Mersey Beat. Their story will illustrate the part that they played in motivating and influencing the likes of The Beatles, Gerry and The Pacemakers, The Searchers, The Swinging Blue Jeans, The Merseybeats etc; to become the legendary stars that they are today. watch out for further details.
Shooter have recently returned from a conference gig at Cambridge University and this Saturday play at Maendy Army Barracks in Cardiff.

Hi, well what a carry on! a protest single CD is to be released on international download of a song called 'The Wall'.
Recorded by 'The Mathew Street Banned'; a group featuring a number of top Mersey Beat musicians including Shooter's lead vocalist and guitarist Keith Hubbard, the protest song refers to the names of Merseybeat bands on Liverpools Mathew Street wall. The protest has caused much heated debate. Aimed at the lack of a designated Mersey Beat stage at this years Mathew Street Festival. The song and the protest was aired last Saturday morning on Radio Merseyside's Billy Butler show. The discussion was, to say the least, a little heated. Shooter are again experiencing a change of personnel; Phil Chittick has left and is to be replaced by returning drummer Jeff Walker. Jeff will rejoin the band for gigs at the end of July and onwards. In the meantime Tommy Limb from Ricky Gleason and The Topspots has been standing in for gigs at Ryland's in Warrington, Seacroft Holiday Park in Hemsby Grt Yarmouth and Flixton Ex-serviceman's Club Manchester. Tommy is to deputise until the end of July and we thank him for his help.
Mentioning the Topspots, we wish Bass player Kel Harrison; who has just had a knee replacement, and his wife Kathy, who has undergone treatment for her eye's, a quick recovery, our thoughts are with them.

Unbelievable

It has come to my attention that the organizers of Liverpool's Mathew Street Festival say that, due to lack of popularity and support, they propose to cancel the Mersey Beat Stage for this years event; UNBELIEVABLE!
The buzz that came from the stage area last year was fantastic and very supportive, which dumbo worked out that it was seen to be unpopular. There will be other stages featuring ABBA and such tribute acts around the town using support backing tracks and the like, what has that got to do with the music culture of Merseyside and what the Mathew Street festival is supposed to represent; the true live music of Mersey Beat!
I am sure that a good percentage of the visitors from around the UK and abroad want to see the true Mersey Beat artists from pop musics greatest era performing live.
Please pass mine and my band Shooter's support to Brian Jones, Dave Ferguson and any other person trying to correct this outrage.

Big In Wigan

Hi, Swinley Labour Club in the centre of Wigan, what a great club. Newly refurbished the club has a good stage and nice dressing room facilities is set out well for the audience and Shooter had a great gig there on Saturday night. The dance floor was always busy and the band went down a storm with a promise of a rebook in the near future. Keep on Rockin!

Hi, Shooter's gig at Thatto Heath Labour Club on Saturday was met with the usual enthusiasm, compere Paul, resident Drummer Mike (apologies about the Bob mix up Mike)and keyboard player Sylvia were on top form and gave the band a warm welcome.
With plenty on the dance floor for the second set, the reception was good although, guitarist Keith did have one or two (maybe three or more) senior moments in the first set. Ah well age catches up with us all sometime. Thanks again to all at the club for having Shooter, see you next time.

We're Back

Hi all, the band are back on the road after Keith Hubbard's holiday in Madeira, he has had a good rest and is now ready to be up and at 'em, as they say. Great gig in Preston at Middleforth British Legion, it was a private party and we have never seen so many people crammed into such a small room. Nicely set out with a small but good stage, Shooter received a fabulous reception and were equally well looked after by Keith the concert secretary, so a big thank you all at the club and we hope to see them again sometime in the not to distant future. The first gig after the holiday was at Lyons Holiday Park in Rhyl North Wales on Saturday 17th April, another great night what a good crowd, see them again in October. This week it is Thatto Heath Labour Club in St Helens, a regular Shooter gig; the band are looking forward to meeting up with con sec and compeer Paul and resident muso's Sylvia and Mike again. We'll let you know how it goes.
Some good future gigs lined up including a much looked forward to rebook on New Years Eve at The Hilton Hotel in Bradford, what a great night we had last New Year.

Hello, been a bit quiet lately, what with the lay off due to lead guitarist Keith's operation and a slow start to 2010 but things are moving again now; Keith's getting fitter by the day, new drummer Phil has settled in brilliantly with Shooter having had recent gigs at Ellesmere Road Rec Club In Bolton, good club, great night and on Saturday last the band travelled down to Challaborough Bay Holiday Park in South Devon for the opening night of the parks holiday season. Well looked after by Chris Chambers and his team, Shooter enjoyed a fantastic evening. Its on to Preston for a private party this week, then after a short holiday (Keith and his misses are of to Madeira)the band are at Lyons Holiday Park In Rhyl north Wales.

Goodbye Jeff Hello Phil

Sad news, our drummer of the last two years; Jeff Walker, due to personal reasons, has had to leave the band, we wish Jeff and his family all the best for the future.
Good news, replacing Jeff is ex Merseybeats and Liverpool Express drummer; Phil Chittick. Phil joins the band after a recent stint with The Blues Gang, Phil played his first gig with Shooter at; Newton Heath Catholic Club in Manchester on Saturday 6th February, it went well.
Lead guitarist and vocalist Keith Hubbard is back on the road after his operation and although, keeping the workload low, he is looking forward to, together with bass player Mike and new drummer Phil, a successful 2010.

Hi all, a Happy New Year to you all, great news, lead guitarist Keith Hubbard is back on the road, the band saw 2009 out with gigs Christmas Eve at Highfield Road Social Club Blackpool, Boxing night at The Excelsior Club Sale and New Years Eve at The Hilton Hotel in Bradford all fantastic nights in spite of the horrible weather.
Last Saturday the band played a re-union gig at the Royal Clifton Hotel in Southport. what a fabulous night, organizers Irene and Bob and their team really do push the boat out, a great night enjoyed by all, here's to next year.
Shooter have a gig in Bury on the edge of the Pennines this week, hope the snow stays away BRRRRRRR!.

Hi all, great news! Shooter's axeman/vocalist Keith Hubbard, has almost recovered enough from his operation to be back on the road again.
With contracted dates in December to fulfill, Keith should be fit enough to see the band through the Christmes celebrations.
With gigs on Christmas Eve at The Highfield Road WMC, Blackpool; The Excelsior Club, Sale, on Boxing Night and The Hilton Hotel, Bradford on New Years Eve, 2009 should end on a brighter note.

September Gigs

Hi all, Shooter at the Cavern 23rd August 2009, this first appearance at Liverpool's new Cavern Club made lead guitarist Keith one of the few musicians to have performed at all four versions of the world famous venue. Making his first appearance at the original club with the Rebels in 1964, he then played at the re-opened club during the late 60s into the 70s, including playing at that clubs final night on May 27th 1973. Keith then played on the opening night and had many further gigs at the New Cavern situated on the opposite side of Mathew Street, this later became Eric's then Brady's. Now with this appearance, he has completed his run of performing at all four venues.
The band had good run of gigs in September which saw Shooter at Thatto Heath Labour Club St Helens,receiving the usual warm welcome from compare Paul, meeting up with resident musicians Sylvia and Bob, not to mention the fabulously supportive audience at this well established live venue. Next was The BASA Social Club in Manchester, a very enjoyable evening all round, this was followed by a home town gig in Southport at Hillside Golf Club, where the band received a fantastic reception. The final gig, before lead guitarist vocalist Keith had to go into hospital for a bit of surgery, was at Seacroft Holiday Park in Hemsby by Grt Yarmouth, one of Keith's favourite gigs.
Keith is now out of hospital and recovering, with lots of T.L.C. from his wife Angela, he should be back on the road by the end of the month.

Mathew Street Festival

Hi All, what a weekend, on Friday the band was in Cheadle, Staffordshire, for a 60th birthday party at The Manor Hotel, great night. Saturday was at The Radisson SAS Hotel in Liverpool, another 60th birthday, this one was for Pat Parker, fabulous setting and although the get in was not to good a fabulous night, you can't have everything.

Sunday was the Mathew Street Festival in Liverpool, Shooter were at The Hard Days Night Hotel, this was for the MerseyCats Childrens Charity, drummer Jeff couldn't make this gig due to family commitments and although he was missed, stand in Tommy Limb from the Topspots did a great job. Follows the review from the official MerseyCats web site; ...Shooter showed us what a working band can to do to bring the audience to their feet with an extremely polished performance featuring a fabulous medley of 60s hits..., Of all the stages used for the event, The MerseyCats stage was voted best in Festival, say no more!

The Cavern Re-Visited

Hi all, Shooter lead guitarist and vocalist Keith Hubbard completed a unique landmark in his career on Sunday, while appearing at Liverpool's legendary Cavern Club with Shooter, he must be one of a very few people who have appeared at all four versions of the venue. In the summer of 1964 he made his first of many appearances at the original Cavern with Ricky Gleason & The Topspots and later The Rebels. In 1972-73, he performed with Caliban on the re furbished and extended Cavern, playing on the original clubs final night, May 27th 1973, it was then closed to make way for an air vent for the underground railway. A New Cavern Club was opened across the way in Mathew Street in the Old Fruit Exchange and Caliban played on the opening night supporting Roy Woods Wizard, Caliban appeared many more times at this new club which was later to become Eric's then Brady'. The final chapter, a guest spot on Sunday night at what is now the Cavern, what a night, there were four bands, first up was 'Medium' 60s music with a good hard rockin'sound, 'The Kings, a Kinks tribute band from Nottingham, absolutely superb, they were followed by 'Flashback' a band from York kitted out with real vintage Hofner guitars, very authentic, excellent, then it was Shooter's turn greeted by a fantastic reception, they lifted the roof, what a Rockin' night, "just like the old Cavern" Keith observed. We hope to have pictures and a video for the next blog.
This week sees Shooter in Cheadle Staffs. on Friday, Liverpool on Saturday and on Sunday the band make their first appearance as part of the Mathew Street Festival on the MerseyCats stage at The Hard Days Night Hotel; 6pm.

The Cavern and other Gigs

Shooter have been on their travels with gigs at Tonge Ward Labour Club Bolton, The British Legion Club Flint, Lyons Holiday Park Rhyl and on Friday night MerseyCats presented a package show at the Stubshaw Cross Labour Club in Ashton In Makefield in aid of the Children's Hospice: Derian House Charity, what a fantastic night Dave Ferguson open with his band 'The Bumblies', rhythm 'n blues through and through, Tempest gave us a good set of 60s and 70s songs, Ricky Gleason The Topspots including Keith as a guests guitarist had a great time, the audience shouting for more and then Shooter rocked the socks of 'em. MerseyCats and the organizers thanked Keith Mike and Jeff from Shooter for the loan of their equipment also Dave Freguson who compered the evening brilliantly. What a good cause, all the performing artists gave their services free and what a great turnout, a big thanks to all involved. Saturday was a gig at Pendleton British Legion club In Salford and what a surprises standing in as resident keyboards player for his wife who recently had a baby boy , Jonathon, was; Tony Baker from the Dakotas, Tony has performed in our Legend Of The 60s show on a number of occasions, nice to see him, great night.
This week will see Shooter playing gigs in Upholland on Saturday 22nd, then our first appearance at The Cavern Club in Liverpool then Cheadle on Friday, Liverpool on Saturday and to end the month on Sunday they have an appearance at the Hard Days Night Hotel in Liverpool as part of the Mathew Street Festival. Hard Days Night

Wow what a week, another great night at MerseyCats, a good gig at Shavington Working Men's Club, Crewe, and lead guitarist Keith had a rockin' night guesting with his 1964 group Ricky Gleason And The Topspots at the MerseyCats promotion in the Hard Days Night Hotel in Liverpool.
Very quiet this week no planned gigs, Shooter's next gig is a week on Saturday (25th July)at Tongue Ward Labour Club in Bolton.
On the Sunday (26th July) Keith will again be guesting with Ricky and the Topspots at Liverpool's famous Cavern Club, Shooter will be appearing at the Club on 23rd August.

Revolving Doors

It's all change again, drummer Clive Knowles short stay with the band has come to an end and he has left for pastures new, we wish him well. After a little persuasion Jeff Walker is back, great!
Clive's final gig was at The Mid Point Restaurant in Bradford, nice venue this, authentic Indian restaurant complete with life size decorated Indian elephant statue. The band were performing at a 60s special theme evening in the banqueting suite, good crowd, went well.
Jeff's first gig back with the band, this was at Royton Band Club in Oldham. After being stuck on the M62 for a good hour the band arrived a little late but what an evening. Again this was a 60s special theme night, the audience played their part, dancing and singing along, the atmosphere was electric.

On Saturday afternoon was a gig for MerseyCats, the children's charity, at the St Helens Show, what a show, there was a massive fairground, bouncy castles in abundance, and numerous live stages with performances from all genres of entertainment, all for free, £5 if you were parking your car. Shooter's set, at 2:30pm in bright sunshine, was greeted well, Ricky Gleason and Keith Dodd of the Topspots got up and did a few numbers with the band, great stuff. Also deserving a mention were, The Boogymen, Tempest, and Searchin.
Saturday night and Shooter were at Farnworth Veterans Club in Bolton, another great night, good club, excellent live backing and with a warm welcome from compare John, lively audience and spot on staging, who could ask for more?
With a plan to do a spot at MerseyCats which is held in the Old Roan British Legion Club Aintree, Liverpool on Thursday evening and a gig at Shavington WMC in Crewe on Saturday the band have a busy week, we'll let you know how they get on.

Mersey Beat in Norfolk

Shooter have just got back from a very successful weekend of Mersey Beat nostalgia at the Seacroft Holiday Centre in Hemsby nr. Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. Together with The Counterfeit Beatles and The Piggies, Shooter gave the 50s and 60s music fans who had pack the Lord Nelson Ballroom over the weekend a wonderful time. Shooter had the Sunday evening to themselves and had the place jumping, it went so well their going to do it again in September.
Seacroft Holiday Centre prides itself on it's 1950's style Hi De Hi charm, with it's chalets and facilities typical of that bygone era, perfect for the music that Shooter and the other bands produced.
Shooter are in Bradford next at the Mid Point Suite, we'll let you know how they get on.

Clives Gig

Hi, travelling to Blackpool Saturday last, Shooter had their official first performance with new drummer Clive Knowles, Clive has joined the band after Jeff's leaving to spend more time with is young family. Newton Hall Caravan Park is a really nice venue, the band received a warm welcome from complex manageress Shelley and her assistant Martin and after two great sets received a well earned encore, drummer Clive did us proud.
Well done Clive, remember its the second gig that's the trip up!

Farewell To Jeff

Unfortunately I have to start with not to good news, drummer Jeff Walker has decided that he needs to spend more time with his young family and is to leave the band, his wife Sue has recently given birth to a baby girl, Madeline, three year old Curtis now has a sister.

We wish Jeff, Sue, Curtis and Madeline all the best for the future, Jeff will be missed.

Replacing Jeff is ex Undertakers drummer; Clive Knowles. Clive is a very experienced musician and Shooter, while sad to be saying farewell to Jeff, are pleased that Clive has agreed to join the band.

Shooter have been playing the usual social club/holiday camp gigs over the last few months and will be doing the same throughout June and July.

Recently Shooter played at MerseyCats, what a greatly night, the band went down a storm and can't wait to return, we'll keep you posted.

A gig to look out for is Shooter's first appearance at Liverpool's new Cavern Club, this is on Sunday 23rd August. This will complete a full hand of appearances at the Club for Shooter guitarist Keith, as he will now have appeared at the Cavern Club, old and new, including playing on the original clubs closing night, with all the major bands that he has been in since he started his career in the mid 1960s, they are as follows; The Rebels, Ricky Gleason & the Topspots, Caliban, and now Shooter.

The re-united Ricky Gleason & the Topspots are now out on the road, this was one of guitarist Keith's first bands and he will be a feature with the band subject to his availability from Shooter.

Ricky & the Topspots have had appearances at MerseyCats and have future gigs at The Cavern and Liverpool's Mathew Street Festival, with the Cd title; 'Then & Now' is on release, it's all systems go.

Hi, great news, the announcement of a new arrival to drummer Jeff Walkers family, a baby girl.
Madeline was born to Jeff's wife Sue on 16th April, 8lbs 2oz, all are well, we send best wishes to Sue, Jeff, their son Curtis and of course Madeline.
Due to the new arrival, Shooter have had a short break, hitting the road again last Saturday with a gig at General Manchester Transports Whitehouse Club in Crumpsall, Manchester, great gig.
The bands next gig is on Saturday 9th May in Wigan at Lamberhead Green WMC.

Hi all, after gigs at The Top Club in Little Hulton, Manchester, another great night, a further Mike and Keith 50s & 60s un-plugged session at Lings on Kings Restaurant in Southport and a fabulous night at Marton Mere Holiday Park, Blackpool, Shooter are looking forward to this coming Saturday's return to Manchester for their annual appearance at Flixton Ex-Servicemens Club. The Flixton club is well set out with a good stage and a warm welcome, review in our next blog.
Mike & Keith have another un-plugged session booked at Lings this Friday, nice restaurant this , good Peking style fare with a fun atmosphere.
Ricky Gleason and The Topspot are still in rehearsal at the studio and the bands appearances at MerseyCats in Liverpool have been well received as shown in the following comments from the MerseyCat web site;

Rock 'n' Roll

Rock 'n' Roll was the theme of the early evening part of the show at the Gala Gran Holiday Park in Fleetwood, a capacity audience really rocked and Shooter had a great time, The second part of the show Featured midlands band Orang-U-Tang, a latin/soul outfit with an African theme, in their animal skin costumes, the multi-instrumentalists gave a great set in what was a good night all round for the Cala Gran punters.

Shooter's following gig was the annual visit to Rylands Recreation Club in Warrington, warm atmosphere, nice people, again a great night.

Mersey Beat favourites, Ricky Gleason & The Topspots are still rehearsing in Shooter's studio and are looking forward to a first proper rehearsed appearance at Mersey Cats, putting together a Cd and maybe a few gigs on the road. You can,t keep good rockers down.

Hi all, just a little update, over the last few weeks Shooter have been busy both in the studio and performing at corporate functions in Ross on Wye and Runcorn, both gigs were very well received. Studio time has been spent adding the final touches to the new Cd's, The Sounds Of The 60's and A Whole Lotta' Rock 'n' Roll, more news on these items in our next Blog.

A few weeks ago lead guitarist Keith was contacted by Derek Banks lead singer with Keith's first band The Rebels 1963-67, Then known as Ricky Gleason, Derek joined The Rebels after leaving his first band (a favourite of Keith's) 'Ricky Gleason and The Topspots'. Derek, who had recently been meeting up with the other members of the Topspots at Mersey Cats, a charitable organisation put together by ex Mersey Beat band members and fans, asked Keith if he would like to come along to one of the meetings to re-establish old acquaintances. Mersey Cats hold a social/open mike/jam night every Thursday at Old Roan British Legion Club which is near to Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. Keith had a strong affinity with the Topspots as, beside Derek being lead singer with the Rebels, Topspots bass player Kelvin Harrison also joined up with The Rebels, and during the mid 1970's while Keith was touring with Chicory Tip he met up with Topspots Lead guitarist Keith Dodd who had by then become a member of The Swinging Blue Genes. Accepting Dereks invitation Keith, together with Shooter bass guitarist Mike Rimmer, made the trip to Mersey Cats where Keith met Derek and was introduced for the first time in 30 plus years to Kelvin, Keith Dodd and Topspots drummer Tommy Limb. A great night was had by all and the original Topspots performed, having been requested by all attending, together for the first time in 44 years, unrehearsed, still magic. The outcome of the meetings is that Ricky & The Topspots are to reform and are rehearsing in Shooter's studio in Southport with a view to making a Cd and playing occasional charity gigs. Shooter's Keith, subject to availability, will make guest appearances with the band, sharing guitar duties with the other Keith (Dodd). We'll keep you posted as to the bands progress.

Together with appearances in Warrington and Manchester later in the month, Shooter are at Cala Gran Holiday Park in Fleetwood this weekend.

All Quiet

Hi, after the festive season, Christmas, New Year and Chinese New Year, all's gone quiet, a recent visit to Tonge Ward Labour Club in Bolton was well received and has been followed by number of private functions. This week the band travels to Ross on Wye, and on the following Saturday they perform at a Ladies Night for Runcorn Golf Club.

Also this week, Shooter are back in the studio to add a few new tracks to the Cd's, Cd's ? Having had a re-think the band have decided to make available two new Cd's "The Sounds OF The 60's" featuring the band performing songs from 1960-1970 and "A Whole Lotta' Rock 'n' Roll" which will showcase Shooter's arrangements of the the great rock 'n' roll hits of the late 1950's to the early 1960's. Both Cd's together with the previously released compilation recording of the "The Legend Of The 60's" show soundtrack, featuring Shooter and the Krystolettes, will be available from the usual sources, via the web site or at Shooter gigs. Chinese New Year

Hi, gigs are starting to come in for the new year seeing the band again travelling far and wide, check out the gig list for details. Over the last weekend we have been celebrating The Chinese New Year, Keith and Mike helped local Southport restaurant Lings on Kings, (a two floor bistro style restaurant with sadly not enough room for drummer Jeff) with their festivity by performing acoustic sets from the 50's & 60's.

Lings, a favourite haunt of Keith and his wife Angela, has a great atmosphere, created by host Ling Lam, who famously sings to her diners while providing possibly the best Peking style menu in the area.

Keith and Mike enjoyed two great nights at the venue, diners really rocking, singing and dancing along even to the point that Ling got to sing with the boys, choosing Dusty Springfield's, I Only Want To Be With You, she brought the house down, great stuff.

The Chinese Calender has a twelve year cycle each year having it's own, unique, animal sign. This year is the year of the OX. The twelve signs are; Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog & Pig. The sign unique to you depends on your year of birth. Therefore, referring to Shooter, Mike is a Tiger, Jeff is a Monkey, and Keith is a Pig, enough said, see you next time.

Annual Re-union Ball Southport

Wow! what a great night, very swish, everyone dressed up to the nines, fabulous atmosphere, sorry it had to end.
The Annual Re-union Ball, held at The Royal Clifton Hotel on The Promenade in the bands home town of Southport, has been going for a good number of years.
Starting out as a business mans re-union the event has blossomed into one of the must go to functions in the Southport entertainment calender.
Organized by Irene and Bob Lough the event is held each year during the early part of January and attendance is by invite only.
The entertainment for his years soiree was provided by DJ Bob Ward and Shooter.
Bob kicked of the evening with some of the great dance hits of the seventies; Dancing Queen, The First My Last My Everything etc. Shooter, featured one of the Krystollettes, Aimie Disley, to share lead vocals with Keith. This was Aimie's first gig as a lead vocalist, she was brilliant (stay in rehab that Winehouse girl, there's a new Aimie on the block).
The band performed two sets the dance floor was heaving and they received a standing ovation, prompting the following email from organizer Irene;

Hi Keith...Just to say thanks for Saturday Night....lots of people saying how much they enjoyed...Shooter...Great Night...With many thanks...Irene Lough.

Great Gigs

Hi there, three great gigs last week.
The first on Tuesday evening, was Keith and Mikes acoustic unplugged sing along at Lings on Kings Chinese Restaurant in Southport. Hostess Ling creates a buzzing atmosphere, with her personal attention, good service, great food and a helping of great songs sung in her own inimitable style. Keith and Mike played two spots performing songs from Shooter's repertoire and a good sing along evening was had by all. SingalongaLing?
The second gig was a Christmas Party at Mansfield Civic Hall, a fantastic night, Shooter were accompanied by Sharn and the Krystolettes with excerpts from 'The Legend Of The 60s' show. John the DJ got the party going with a 60s fancy dress competition judged by Sharn and Keith, the winner being a Janis Joplin/hippy look alike, followed that by spinning some of the great dance music of the era. Shooter and The Krystolettes took to the stage around 10pm performing a hour plus set receiving two encores. Fabulous night.
The third gig was superb, the band have been really looking forward to this gig, it didn't let them down. The Marketeers Carnival Club held their Christmas Cabaret Show in the Chilton Trinity School Hall, Bridgewater, Somerset, transforming the room into a Vegas style cabaret theatre. Warmly welcomed by show producer Brian Lambert, the band set their gear and being billed to perform at the end of the evening sat back to watch the show. An impressive stage set with excellent lighting bode well. Acting as compare and an act in her own right was the brilliant Jennie Robin, a very funny lady with a good voice to boot. Jennie introduced the opening act, boy and girl illusionists, 'Celtic Storm' their fast moving performance choreographed to the music of Riverdance was impressively effective, then followed Jennie with her own very entertaining set, this signaled the end of the first half of the show. After the interval we were treated to one of Geordielands favourite stand up comedians, 'Kevin Kaye' great stuff. Now it was Shooter's turn, what a fabulous reception, the band will live on that for weeks, Thank you Bridgewater, no more to say.
So on to Christmas, our pre-Christmas blog will feature final details of the content of the new CD.

Hi all, Two gigs last week, Friday at Master McGraths Restaurant, Scarisbrick near Southport, Shooter have been a monthly attraction at the venue for 13 years at the restaurants 60s themed dinner dances, great atmosphere. Saturday was at Ellesmere Road Recreation Club, Bolton, we did our first booking for Creeme Entertainments at this venue way back in the early 1990s and have been visiting every year since, great club, well run with the usual warm Lancashire welcome by hostess Barbara, great night.
On the news front, Keith's thumb is healing nicely and the new CD compilation is being discussed ready for release, the band has been in rehearsal with Sharn and the Krystolettes for two pre. Christmas 'Legend of the 60s' shows at Mansfield and Huddersfield, more about them in our next blog.

Oh Dear!

Shooter Lead guitarist and vocalist Keith had a little mishap on Saturday last, while helping his son Dan to celebrate both his 30th birthday and break in a new set of golf clubs, (a present from his mates) Keith slipped on a muddy slope and fell heavily on his left hand injuring his thumb, ouch!.
With a gig in Rochdale in the same evening, it was damage limitation time, out came the ice pack compress, followed by heat treatment and analgesic rub. Although very sore Keith managed to complete the gig, a dual 40th wedding anniversary celebration at the Milnrow Cricket Club, Rochdale, a good time was had by all.
After a virtual sleepless Saturday night, Keith woke up on Sunday morning to find his hand quite swollen and decided a hospital visit was required. After examination and Xray it was discovered that he had chipped and fractured the knuckle bone in the thumb on his left hand , ouch! Now with his hand in a splint and a visit booked with a hand specialist, our axe mans not a happy chappy, still, with no gigs over the next ten days or so and a little rest and TLC, we are confident that he will be OK for the Master McGraths gig at the end of the month.
The Band are looking forward to a busy month in December with some great gigs and the release of the new album/Cd, so we wish Keith a speedy recovery and hope to meet some of you on our travels.

Oh! The Rain, we hate the RAIN!

Saturdays gig was in Blackpool at The Brun Grove WMC. Setting out in fair weather we were resigned to an awkward lift, up a double flight fire escape, at least it was dry. After an easy journey through Preston we came into Blackpool, what was that on the windscreen, rain! dry all day, it couldn't wait another half hour could it. Arriving a further mile down the road, at the club, it was lashing down, we had to get the gear in and we were going to look like drowned rats. Undaunted we carried the equipment up the fire escape and set up, steam rising of our soaked clothing, never mind eh, oh! the rain, we hate the RAIN!
Nice club, Brun Grove, again the regular once yearly visit went well, see you next year.
The new Cd tracks are now completed and decisions have to be made on the compilation and design. A full review will be given in the next Blog.

Halloween and Other Frights

Hi, Our visit to The Highfield Road Social Club in Blackpool on Friday last, Halloween night, was eventful to say the least. On arrival we were really impressed by the turn out of the members, all decked out in the ghastliest of array of costumes imaginable, We had Freddie Kruger, Dracula, Scream, numerous witches, warlocks, and monsters to frightening to mention, the crowd were up for a good night, the place was buzzing. Performing the same usual sets, with a few topical ad libs thrown in, Shooter enjoyed another great gig, going home with a promise from the entertainments secretary of a re-book sometime early in the new year to look forward to.
Saturday 1st November saw Shooter paying a return visit to The Excelsior Club in Sale Grt. Manchester, a friendly little club this, nice people, a great pint of Guinness, laid back and a joy to work at.
Regarding Shooter's 25th anniversary CD, the recording tracks have now all been completed and Keith has started to produce the master mixes, everything is looking good for an early December release. Watch this space.

Twenty Fifth Anniversay CD

Hi, as part of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the formation of the band, Shooter have been locked in the studio recording new and re-recording old tracks for their new CD.
Since the last posting were we mentioned that it would be a good idea to have a CD representing the latest line up of the band, with some of the tracks already in the can, further tracks including, from the Rock 'n' Roll era; Blue Suede Shoes, Summertime Blues, Bye Bye Love, Oh Boy, That'll Be The Day, It'll Be Me, No Particular Place To Go, and from the 60s; When You Walk In The Room, Needles & Pins, You Really Got Me, Do Wah Diddy, Brown Sugar, (ok we know that's a 1970's number, but our repertoire covers 1955 - 1970) have been added.
Recording completed, we now go into the production stage, this will be handled by Keith with input from Mike and Jeff. The CD will feature all the tracks mentioned in the postings, plus a number of performances from previous Shooter line ups. We hope to have the CD completed for release by the beginning of December.
Our gig at Thatto Heath Labour Club St. Helens went very well, this is a enthusiastically supported club in the tradition of the chicken in the basket social clubs of the 60s, 70s and early 80s. On our travels it is rare to experience the set up of compare, and resident musicians these days, cut backs in spending have sadly seen the demise of especially, the residents, in favour of "self contained artists" (karaoke! Ugh!) but at Thatto Heath they have an excellent set up in drummer Mike and Merseyside keyboard legend Sylvia (Sylvia, whom together with her husband on drums was, for many years, resident at the New Montrose Club In Liverpool, backing many of the top cabaret, pop and comedy artists on the circuit). United with compare Paul, they make a formidable team and their welcome is second to none. Performing the usual sets, the band went well, although, as we have visited this venue at least once a year since Shooter went on the road, I'm sure the audience know our set better than we do, yes a great night, here's to next year.
Our next gig was a fund raiser for the M. S. Society, to help raise money for a sponsored trek across the Sahara desert. Held at Leo's Bar in Southport and organised by Southport Community Radio DJ's, Jon Jessop and George Halsall, the event was a little hampered by the appalling weather and although a full house amount of tickets had been sold only about half of the holders attended the function, (in reference to the appalling weather, they probably thought, we've made our donation, lets stay comfie by the tele). We were met with a warm welcome from licensee Trevor and his staff, who also provided the hot buffet, and together with some great live and recorded 60's & 70s music, the people attending had a good time. There was an auction of a number of sports items provided by Everton FC, JJB Sports and St Helens RLC which further helped the coffers, all in all a successful night. Shooter send their best wishes to the desert walkers.

Unity Farm And Other Gigs

Hi all, after our gigs at the Elvis Event and Huddersfield Shooter appeared at Somerset Holiday Park, Unity Farm's 60s weekend. After a good clear traffic journey down the M6/M5 we arrived at Brean Sands near Burnham on Sea to discover the whole complex of holiday parks situated in the area, holding a Country & Western Week, the place was invaded by cowboys & injuns, ...gather the horses, circle the wagons, watch out for those pesky injuns... however, JD's Unity Farm bucked the trend by holding a 60s night and Shooter were the chosen act. Arriving at the venue we were greeted by entertainments manager Rik Skelton who assisted in our set-up and sound check and organised our accommodation. Two sets on this occasion, the band started with the usual opener, Move It, the place was boppin', a great night was had by all, two encores, first Johnny B Good followed by Hi Ho Silver Lining finished of a great night. Thank you Rik and all the team at JD's.

With a gig at Pemberton Central labour Club Wigan in between sessions in our Stables Studio, the band have been busy re-recording some of the old favorites and a few new to Shooter songs, a CD featuring the new line up is to be released sometime before Christmas. Tracks already recorded include; Move It, Runaway, Sorrow, Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress, Love Hurts, Do You Wanna' Dance, In The Midnight Hour, Mustang Sally, Hi Ho Silver Lining, You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling. More information about the Cd will be given hopefully in our next posting, together with a review of our next gig at Thatto Heath Labour Club St. Helens, a regular annual visit.

NHS 60th Anniversary/Elvis Convention

As promised in our previous posting, reviews and photo's from Shooter's gigs at The NHS 60th Anniversary Celebration at The Crowne Plaza,Chester on Saturday 12th September and the Elvis Presley Convention, held at Golden Sands Holiday Centre, Mablethorpe on the Thursday 25th September.

NHS 60th Anniversary Celebration.
Organised by DJ and fundraiser Bob Ward, the Chester NHS 60th Anniversary celebration was held at The Crowne Plaza Hotel in the centre of Chester. With over 300 guests, the night got of to a start with a raffle, this had some excellent prizes donated by various businesses around Chester, followed by an auction featuring a guitar signed by Gerry Marsden of The Pacemakers fame, this was sold at a princely sum. Both events raised a good amount of cash towards a counselling room at the local Hospital. Next came the buffet: Hot Pot or Curried Chicken, very nice.
There was a 60s & 70s fancy dress contest, hospital staff making a great effort, we were treated to some extremely inventive costumes, from Queen's Brian May to Cher. The winner was knockout Rod Stewart
Shooter took to the stage at around 10.30pm. The dance floor was soon full and an enthusiastic audience ensured that the evening was a great success.

Elvis Presley Convention.
On Thursday the 25th of September, Shooter were the final Star Cabaret at the Elvis Presley Party Event 2008 at Havens Golden Sands Holiday Park, Mablethorpe.
The Elvis fans had a great week, with talks by fan club members from America, fancy dress and karaoke competitions, quizzes, even an Elvis pantomime.
As well as Shooter, the Star Cabarets for the week had featured: The Jets, Levi Barrat & The Sunsets, The Boogie Wonderband, The Gillettes and The Always Elvis Gospel Tour.
Shooter took to the stage on the final day to a rapturous reception. The audience were up for rocking and fully enjoyed the band's one hour plus set.
The first week in October sees Shooter at the 60s Weekend at Brean Sands in Somerset, the band are really looking forward to this gig which will be reviewed in our next posting.

Just Gigging

Since our gig at The Maynard at Grindleford the band have been kept busy with gigs in Weaverham, Stafford, and Bolton, all well received, new drummer Jeff has settled in well, a lively character, so much so that he's driving laid back bass player Mike to distraction, he's got so much energy, great!

As a present for Jeff's 40th Birthday, Sue, (Jeff's wife) took him along to see Stevie Wonder at The Manchester Arena, he is still high on the experience, Jeff's take on the night,"the fourteen piece band were fantastic and Stevie was just out of this world".

The coming week see's Shooter playing at a celebration bash for the NHS 60th Anniversary on Friday 12th September at The Crowne Hotel in Chester, of which a review plus photo's will feature in our next Blog, this is followed by gigs on Saturday at, Swinton Royal British Legion Club, Grt. Manchester and on Sunday at, Stretford Ex-Serviceman's Club, Old Trafford, again in Manchester.

With what is virtually a new line up, namely a new recruit in drummer Jeff and Mike having been with the band 14 months, it was mooted that a new Cd was required to represent the current band. With this in mind Shooter are to go into the studio over the next few weeks to re-record some of the old favourites together with a number of new 60s covers. There will be more about the contents of the Cd in our next Blog.

Jeff's Summer Debut

Shooter's gig schedule for July & August included drummer Jeff''s first appearances with the band at the Pheonix Club in Ellesmere Port, followed by The Red House in Chester. Jeff made the band really rock, deservedly earning Shooter a tremendous reception at both gigs.

On Sunday 31st August, Keith and Mike were the guests on Phil Roberts' live 60s show on Southport Community Radio.

Shooter were pleased to get the following email about a gig played on 24th August at The Maynard Hotel, Grindleford Derbyshire...

We have received the following from the client:

The band was absolutely fantastic. They too were extremely professional, polite and punctual. They played the perfect set list and had the exact 60s sound that I had hoped for when making the booking. My parents were delighted and knew every word to every song, which took them back to their youth. I was thrilled with the band's performance. There is often a difficult choice between live music and a disco for this type of party given the cost of the former, but this band was worth every penny.
